Local buses run along the bay road between Tivat and Kotor through the day, leaving from the bus station by the sea in Kotor. Two caveats and a negative finding. Montenegro uses the euro unilaterally, so the cash in your pocket from last year's eurozone trip works here at face value. Carry some small notes. The Our Lady of the Rocks island admission became €5 per guest in cash from April 1, 2026 per operator notices, water taxis on the bay quote in cash, and the walls gate sells the same ticket online as the Kotor City Walls entry ticket if you want to arrive pre-armed.

Residence tax of €1.00 per person per night is collected by your accommodation, and children under 12 are exempt, per the Tivat tourism organisation.

First Hours in Town

The transfer drops you at the walls, and the old town is fully pedestrian from there. The tourist info point sits by the Sea Gate and on Arms Square, and English is widely spoken.
